Helen did a great write up of local plant events I thought some of you might be interested in.  I tend to be a thrifty gardener so I love plant swaps - giving my unwanted extras a home while picking up diversity for my own garden.

This spring brings us more garden events than ever. Please cursor down for info on the Fayette Park swap plus 7 other swaps/sales & events.  Index first, details below.

                                                                             

1.Sat. April 25, 10 to 1, 29 Central St. (Dormition of Mary Greek Orthodox church): Plant swap. 

2. Sat. May 2, 12 to 2, Fayette Park: MidCambridge Plant Swap (rain date May 3)                                                                                   

3. Sat. May 16, 3 (!) sales by local plant clubs, in Lexington, Arlington, and Lincoln.igHi10 10igHi

4. Tues. May 19 4 to 6, Kendall/MIT open space, 292 Main street: Plant and seed swap

5. Fri. & Sat. May 29 & 30, 10 to 4.30/3.30, 7 Harrington Rd. (First Parish church), Lexington: Grow Native Mass Native Plant Sale.

1. Sat. April 25, 10 to 1, 29 Central St. (Dormition of Mary Greek Orthodox church):  Plant swap, co-sponsored by the Somerville Garden Club. Plants, seeds, etc. welcome. Rain or shine—it’s indoors.

2. igHiMid-Cambridge PLANT SWAP:                  

The Spring 2026 Mid-Cambridge PLANT SWAP

will be on

Saturday May 2

NOON to 2 pm

Rain date—in case of DOWNPOUR—is Sunday May 3, 12-2

at Fayette Park

(near the corner of Broadway and Fayette St.)

Bring anything you’d like to share. No need for elegant packaging, but please do write down the names of plants.  We usually have perennials, seedlings, seeds, indoor plants, books, pots, tools, and lots of "whatever."  Feel free to just come, chat with neighbors, talk gardening. If you have native plants or seeds to share, please bring ‘em! 

And, if you have jumping worms, please wash off plant roots, and either pot the plants in clean soil or bring them bare-root, in paper or a plastic bag. Thanks!

7. Sat. June 6, 11 to 2: Biodiversity Day at Danehy Park, Cambridge.   Bird watching, tours of native plant garden and Miyawaki Forest, music, games for all ages, etc. Fun!  Co-sponsored by several local groups.

 

8. Sun. June 7, 10 to 4, all over Cambridge: Secret Gardens of Cambridge tour.  30+ gardens all over the city, from tiny pockets to breathtaking spots around Brattle St.  Just try and see them all in 6 hours!  Biennial fundraiser for the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library, $25.
