Subject: Reminder -- dog park meeting tomorrow night; please RSVP
To: "Holmquist, Kara L." <KHOLM...@mspca.org>
Just a reminder about the
meeting tomorrow night. Please see below for the topics that will
be discussed. If you can RSVP to me, that would help planning for
the meeting. Also, we have only had a nomination for president and
treasurer, so are still seeking people interested taking a leadership
position within the potential Friends group.
Thanks,
Kara

Residents interested in exploring the feasibility of an off-leash dog
park in West Roxbury are invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday,November 30 at 6:00 pm at the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Roche
Community Center, 1716 Centre Street.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The purpose of this
meeting will be to:
1. Establish a direction in light of the information obtained at
the last meeting, that most of Millenium Park is not an option because of
environmental issues associated with the landfill cap. Possible
options to discuss moving forward, include pursuing:
·
The potential space outside the capped
area (in the dock area)
·
Official off-leash policy/hours on lower
trail
·
Other sites in W. Roxbury that might be
suitable for a dog park -- or a combination of these
·
In addition to the above site issues,
general efforts the group can make to promote responsible dog
ownership
2. Form a Friends group
to spearhead these efforts. Ideally, we d elect at this
meeting:
·
President
·
Vice President
·
Secretary
·
Treasurer
Anyone who is interested
should live in Boston and can express interest (nominate themselves) by
emailing KHolm...@mspca.org. A short statement of interest would
be helpful and I will compile in a document these to be circulated.
For those who have attended a past meeting about this, it is clear that
an effort to do this not only needs to be but should be --
citizen-driven. Councillor O Malley has initiated the start; it s
up to those who want to lead this effort to continue it.
