I know that several grade levels are finding class dojo a great way to communicate with parents.  Below is one teacher's way of using class dojo to support student reflection on academic work (while also providing them with an authentic audience - their family) that would be appropriate for any grade . . .

Messages – this is another way for parents to communicate with you or vice versa. My aim is to keep this as a positive tool. Today I started ‘Show My Best Work’. I created a rotation over the weekend and each child has a specific day of the week where they chose their favorite piece of work (in any subject area) and write a short note about why they chose it/ why they want to show this piece to their parents. Then I send a private message to the parents about their child’s work (with the note and the picture). This is a fantastic tool for ‘self assessment’ and another positive way to communicate with parents.

(instead of writing the note, students also could follow up with their parents that night - prompting questions could be sent to parents - and the parent could message you that they had the conversation).
