Shawn,
The super-leader program is intended to provide a mode of consistency (only two shifts for the entire weekend day) when the General Manager is not working as well as the sheer practical aspect of filling gaps in store coverage and lending a hand when there is currently only one person--particularly a floor attendant who doesn't know how to cashier--signed up to work.
If your extra time/effort given to the coop is better for you in the form of a 2.5 hour shift--still appreciated and recognized!--then simply sign up for a shift you see open as a one off. Or even consider a second recurring shift for these opening 3 months. Your energy and expertise will influence other members to step up their game and potential members that come to check out the coop get a good sense that we're a friendly crew that mean business--AND GOOD EATIN'!
Remember: in Humanity, clicking the "request for shift" will be for a recurring shift. The way I go about signing up for a one off shift is to go to the Shift Planning mode in Humanity (chosen among the icon list along the top with staff and timeclock and reports). Look at the "Visual View" (stack of pictures icon on the top right) for a week at a time (as opposed to Day or Month) chosen from the top left.
This way you can easily see all the scheduled shifts and if there's a name or "no employee." Click on the one shift you want and then click the bubble next to your name to assign yourself to that shift when the dialogue
box appears.
Thanks Shawn,
Matthew Talmage
Mira,
Welcome BACK!!! We just added a bunch more training times: every Tuesday night at 6:30 through August (cashiers done at 7:30, shift leaders stay on till 8).
And not to make your long day any longer, but I am doing a training the morning of the 18th at 10am...if other training times don't work for you.
Matthew
Mary,
It would be easier to account for your work time if you don't sign up for a super-leader shift on Sept. 2nd, but instead add a one-off shift to that day. Let member ship know through an email that that is when you'll be working the make-up. In effect you'll be working in the store for the same amount of time as the super-leader would, but through channels that are easier for membership to record your time more easily.

Alex,
Our insurance covers fire, so the pressure's off. 😃
You'll gain the expertise by being at the store and problem solving in real time. A big aspect of being successful as a shift leader or super-leader is your ability to lead--and supporting the cashier and floor attendant to use the many resources available to ensure anyone working is effective. Between the checklists for each position on the clock-in computer and the printed guides in the plastic wall units throughout the store and your own commonsense/store experience, you'll do just fine!
Thanks for your extra time & effort.
Matthew Talmage
ps. DON'T FORGET TO CLOCK IN aaaaaAAAAAAND CLOCK OUT.
Alex,
rrrright.
Forgot to address your other question. The hours are bankable, but you won't be able to use them till 2019 when we're over the labor shortage.
