Hi all,

I was working this weekend and noticed a couple things and wasn't sure what the protocol was.

1) I'm assuming the checklists on the computer are still to be used, correct? The dry erase checklists are a bit confusing because it seems like you use that instead since you actually check it off, rather than just something you carry around with you but then still fill out the list on the computer. If the checklists on the computer are still to be used, people should be reminded of that because I was filling in on a shift where the cashier had never done it before even though she had done that shift multiple times.

2) There was information on the checklist that was wrong - I noticed that the compost was being listed as being delivered to 52 Putnam, despite that procedure changing. Maybe other things?

3) Do we do a safe drop on the weekends? The checklist says to if there is over $300 in the drawer, but I thought at the training i went to upon store reopening that only the manager was going to do safe drops, so on the weekend no safe drop - confirmation?

4) would checks be entered as other in the till? The previous shift had done that, but I'd never heard of that before.

Thanks!

Hi Dahlia! Emily from Ops here. Let me answer your questions as best as I can.

Yes, we are still using computer checklists -- those are going directly to the manager when you submit. The laminated checklists are just for assistance if you have a newer floor person, perhaps, who needs some guidance on their role. We just wanted a physical but informal checklist to take around the store. The 52 Putnam compost is no longer a procedure, but everything else is up to date.

2) There was information on the checklist that was wrong - I noticed that the compost was being listed as being delivered to 52 Putnam, despite that procedure changing. Maybe other things? The 52 Putnam compost is no longer a procedure, but everything else on those checklists is up to date. I'll be in the coop Wednesday and I'll cross that out on the physical checklists. The new compost procedure is that compost is going into bags and being stored in the large bin in the walk-in downstairs.

3) Do we do a safe drop on the weekends? The checklist says to if there is over $300 in the drawer, but I thought at the training i went to upon store reopening that only the manager was going to do safe drops, so on the weekend no safe drop - confirmation? We are working on a revised safe drop procedure so cashiers will know how to do this through in-store instructions. I will send an email to all shift leaders and cashiers when this is updated.

4) would checks be entered as other in the till? The previous shift had done that, but I'd never heard of that before. I don't believe checks go in as 'other,' I typically use 'other' for the coin roll count. Isn't there a specific place to input checks on Revel? I'm blanking and I'll have to check it out Wednesday.

Thanks Emily - maybe there should just be something on the wall by the computer saying remember to fill in your shift appropriate checklist on the computer and the dry erase ones are for reference only?
