George Mann Benefit Concert for Universal, Publicly Funded Health Care for All Oregon
Oregon Rural Action invites you to a benefit concert featuring singer/songwriter George Mann, Steve Hines and Friends and Roger Barnes will be held at the McKenzie Theater (Loso Hall) at Eastern Oregon University on Thursday, April 17, 7-9:30pm.
The concert will benefit the health care reform work of Oregon Rural Action and Health Care for All Oregon. The groups are organizing to bring universal, publicly funded healthcare to Oregon and eventually the entire United States.
George Mann, a former union organizer and activist based in New York, is doing a series of benefit concerts throughout Oregon. Mann sings songs from the last century of labor and social activism. His own songs are powerful and funny takes on the state of the nation.
Steve Hines, an eastern Oregon musician, has recruited friends from Bitterroot and other local groups for the opening set of the benefit. Steve will be joined by local musician Roger Barnes performing Pink Floyd selections from The Dark Side of the Moon.
The benefit concert is co-sponsored by the Oregon Rural Action Health Care Reform Action Team, EOU Mission for Environmental Social Awareness (MESA), Eastern Student Entertainment and Health Care for All Oregon.
Tickets are available from Oregon Rural Action, 1119 Washington Ave., and Direct Music Source, 1010 Adams Ave., La Grande. A contribution of $7 is suggested.
The concert will be preceded by a social hour from 6-7 PM at the theater.
