The Umatilla County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) & Benton CD are partnering to host two naturescape garden design workshops. The workshops are FREE to the public and pre-registration by April 10, 2012 is required in order to reserve a lunch. You can register for the Pendleton workshop online at www.umatillacountyswcd.com. The workshops are from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Signature Center in Richland, WA and Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Blue Mountain Community College -Pendleton campus, Morrow Hall, Room 100.
Here's what you can expect to learn about at these workshops:
· Creating your own Naturescape Garden - what to plant and where to plant it with Traci Degerman, National Park Service
· Cultural Significance of Native Plants with Wenix Red Elk, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation
· Getting your Lawn off Grass by Xeriscaping with Bruce Barnes
· Optional field trip to Bruce Barnes' xeriscape after classroom sessions
