On this Saturday, January 31st, environmental leaders from the
Washington, DC area will gather at Maret School for an Energy Fair in the
Old Gym from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Energy Fair will help students and
adults understand how to protect our environment through conservation and
sustainable practices, efficient and alternative uses of energy, and
eco-friendly practices, products, and services. The Energy Fair is free
and open to the public.
All are welcome -- children and adults. There will be hands-on
activities for students, a solar oven activity, a home energy workshop,
free prizes every half hour, and the opportunity to win a free
home-energy audit. If you attend, you will learn about:
* Solar energy options
* Organic gardening
* Using rain barrels for storm water and energy conservation
* Home energy audits
* Sustainable architecture and design
* Home weatherization and reduction in energy consumption and cost
* Conscious low-carbon cooking
* Container gardening
* How to keep food warm without electricity
* Ways to reduce energy waste
* And more!
Information about environmental career opportunities will be available as
