Greetings!

Today we (Mr.Renganathan, Dr.Srikant and myself) went and submitted the report to the Principal Secretary- Environment, M.C.V.Sankar at his chamber. We had discussion for nearly 30 to 40 minutes.We shared the salient points of our report "Environment  Concerns of Tamil Nadu: A Civil Society Perspective" and he gave a patient hearing. He gave some suggestions on CRZ and other issues which are already followed. He also assured us that he will incorporate the relevant points in the State Environment Report.

We all started with Green Manifesto in March 2011 and culminating now with a report sharing with government . Probably this is a good beginning of engagement with government and also a framework for promoting environmental governance.

It is confirmed to have a brief meeting and submission of Environment Concerns report to the Principal Secretary-Environment, Mr.C.V.Sankar. He wanted to have a preliminary idea before consenting, so I personally went to his office today and briefed him. He is happy to meet us between 11.45 and 12.30 tomorrow (14 Aug). We hope it is a good culmination to submit the report to Government and evolve a waforward.

 

The programme as follows:

9.30 am- Asembling at EartSmiles Office for a brief internal meeting

10.45 am- Depart to Secretariat Complex

11.45 am- Reaching Prinicipal Secretary's chamber

12.00 Noon- Brief presentaion on report's salient points

12.00- Winding up and depart for lunch together

2.00- Assembling again at EarthSmiles for discussion on wayforward and follow ups.

3.30.pm- Tea and departing

As you all know Dr. Godsen had collated the report, the same has been circulated to you. Dr. Parivelan proposed 14th August (Tuesday) for meeting in Chennai and finalsing the report on Environmental Issues in Tamil Nadu submitting the same to the Principle Secretary of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu.
