Update : Programme for 14th August'10

Hi Satish, 

Some changes have occurred especially after Shymala, myself, Arvind and Dr.Prameshrao recced the 

entire route on foot this evening AND discussed an exciting new activity with Larry (Siddharth) Benninger and his friends.

The 14th program now look like this:

• Since a stage is only reqd for a few minutes at Alka Chowk, we have decided to do without one. 
  (there was none in 2005 either.)
• Police permission for loud speaker reqd. We need to collect the actual Police Permission by 12th - 13th 
  latest.  (Responsibility, Shyamala & Arvind)

 

4.15pm           Along with compare` Srikant Joshi (ex Radio Mirchi, of Bumper-to-Bumper fame etc) 

                      will arrive at Alka Theatre Chowk. 

4.15-5.00 pm  A  "Paint the BDP Logo / flag" activity has been arranged by Larry Beninger and friends. Briefly, the 

                     idea is to release an easily reproduce-able logo for Pune's BDP Hills and encourage the audience to 

                     paint one for themselves on any piece of cloth / T-Shirt / handkerchief etc that they may bring from 

                     home,or pick-up with us thus bringing the BDP into one's house, literally.  

                     They are working on getting the fabric paints and about 500 cloth pieces (1' x 2'). and sticks. We need about 

                     15 students from art schools to demonstrate simple brush strokes that make our logo, thus motivating 

                     the crowd to paint their own connection with the BDP forests. The 6 sets of pavements can be used for this activity. 

                     Ninad of Radio Mirchi has been contacted.  

                  

5.0 - 5.10 pm  AWARENESS DRIVE: With Srikant in full flow, the public to be made aware of our activity thru 6 large cloth   

                     posters, size 4' x 3', manned by 2 persons each who will flash it at each of the 6 lanes of traffic when the respective 

                     RED traffic light turns on, then remove it promptly when Green flashes. 

                     (Who is making  + manning these 6 posters ? ie 12 persons reqd). 

                     (Responsibility: Tanmay & Parivartan / Pranav and Yugpath)              

5.10-5.20       Powerful skit / street-play on the BDP issue by Youth-To-Youth. (Ameya pls confirm).

5.20-5.30       

 

5.30-5.35       Address by Shri.Mohan Dharia (Short Speech No.1)

5.35-5.45       Brief talk by Aneeta / Arun Firodia / Nana Patekar / Anil Awachat ????? (I have asked District chiefs of Congess, Shiv Sena and BJP to come - if they do, we shd ask them to talk too)

 

5.45-5.50       Shri.Mohan Dharia flags off the march. 

 

SUGGESTED MARCH SEQUENCE

                    

01. 5 x 2 rows of Models of the 10 Hills comprising the BDP with names

                 

      (Responsibility: Ameya has assured us that between 13th and 14th Aug, his group will be able to make the necessary models 

       in cardboard, with the names of the 10 different hills - Aneeta could you pls give us their correct names ? ).

 

02. About 100 banner carrying slogan chanting persons follow. 

 

03. About 50-100 cyclists will follow with as green a garb as possible (Ulhas Joshi pls note) & Cycle Pratishthan (Responsibility: Dr Dilip Sarda & Jugal Rathi). 

 

04. The remaining, about 400, follow with banners, slogan shouting.

      (AA.We need to give Srikant about 10 - 12 catchy slogans

       BB. Portable mike arrangements on rickshaw, Khardekar's man says it will cost about 2200 for the 4-8pm slot 

              including one technician and the rickshaw's fare, if this is found reasonable will go ahead ?) (Pl go ahead & in true NGO style we will pass the cap around and collect the funds)

To keep the crowd going well on this very short route we need short breaks for speeches. 

Speech No.2 : Lakhadi Pul, Deccan side, SPEAKER :Maj.Gen Jathar or other.

Speech No.3: Good Luck corner, SPEAKER :-  Nana Patekar, or other.

Speech No.4: Opposite Vaishali; SPEAKER :-  Satish Khot, or other.

Speech No.5 :Ferguson College gate; SPEAKER :-  Aneeta , or other.

6.45pm  Arrive at Ferguson College main gate parking lot, Aneeta / Satish / Other address the crowd and close the event. 

       (11th morning: Arvind & Bhanu are meeting with Ferguson Col DE Education Soc Vice President, Kakatkar to invite him + 

        permission).

Vidya Valley school has repaired its hand-held mike, no wires,  (battery type) system for our use, we collect it tomorrow. 

Advance payment for the auto-rickshaw based loud speaker system will be done tomorrow.
