Good afternoon!

Further to our earlier communication, we would like to update you on developments regarding the security incident we reported to you earlier.

A small team of committee members and residents met SHK, represented by Judy and Angelica.  It was agreed as follows:

1. The current Security Manager deployed by Superior homes ceases to work from today with immediate effect.

2. Administration Police will be deployed to secure the perimeter from outside, day and night.

3. Guards will be deployed as per the security plan which SHK had shelved to patrol the estate.

4. In the interim, all security issues will handled only  by Christine of SHK

5. Interviews for the Security/Estate Manager be conducted promptly with teams from both parties.

6. The time table for the implementation of the security plan submitted by the committee in Feb 2010 be availed for all to act as a check list.

7. A review of the security management in the Estate be immediately conducted

The Kenya Police were in the compound and have been taking statements from the concerned.

Attached are some of the items gathered during the search by residents last night and the alleged entry point into the Estate.

We will keep you posted on any and further developments.

This is to advise that houses no. 107 and 114 were broken into early this morning.  Various household items were taken away, including Flat screen TVs and Laptops.  No one was injured, but some were threatened with death.

We are gathering details and will revert.

Many thanks for the update.

 

I note that some of the interventions, as proposed in the meeting, had been discussed and agreed in the earlier meetings of residents – like the police patrols. It would appear that there is laxity in implementation of the agreements reached on security matters. This is worrying.

 

Secondly, has the number of security staff increased in line with the number of residents? Do we have enough numbers to carry out the patrols and man the gates satisfactorily?.It is important to map the estate and review the number of security staff.

It is sad to learn of the security lapses in our estate .My empathy goes to the afflicted 

Last night (22nd November 2012), I arrived at about 11pm and I had  to open both gates for myself .

The reason being that both guards for the barrier and the gate had chosen an apt time to catch a snooze 

I figured maybe that this were the "stop-gap measure guards" because the others had ceased duty as per Eric's email 

That was baffling , and i would hate to imagine what if I was a stranger up to no good 

To reiterate what Arodi  has said , it is INDEED worrying . That notwithstanding, we can pull through and make this estate a safe haven

 for all.
