Eric Aligula,
As always thank you for always giving guidance regarding the estate issues.
I totally agree with you GEMS issues need to be managed by the residents.
As a matter of urgency I want us to tackle the school issue. We had a meeting with Angelica last Friday and our agenda was the Nursery School and to our disappointment they have never contacted Diamond Kindergarten to notify them of the residents wishes to run the Green Park Kindergarten, in Superior Homes opinion they wanted us to evaluate other schools yet when we were vetting different Schools we requested for their input and it was not forthcoming. In addition Angelica said that they will complete construction of the current Nursery School in October/ November so they expect a provider to start next year in January!!!
Residents who had accompanied me to the meeting were extremely shocked and disappointed. They asked the committee to ensure that Residents wishes were fulfilled and that we shouldn’t settle for anything less.
The long and short of it is that Superior Homes didn’t bother to analyze the report that the Kindergarten Sub-Committee had compiled after lots of hard work. In our opinion it was in bad faith.
I have attached the report that was compiled by the Nursery School Sub-Committee on the assessment and selection of the most suitable nursery school provider for Green Park Estate for the benefit of the new residents.
Please read through the entire report so that you can understand:
- Why the Nursery School has become critical.
- The mandate given by the residents to the Nursery School Sub- Committee.
- The Criteria used to select the most suitable school to manage the Greenpark Pre- School.
- The School chosen as the preferred provider.
Currently we are faced with a crisis because our kids had been attending school at Martin & Frida’s sitting room but after they moved house, Osumba & Vera allowed us to use their sitting room but in September they are expecting a baby and we all know that with a new born in the house logistics will become complicated hence it will be very hard for us to continue with the Nursery in their house.
We also have many residents who have small children and would like to enroll them in the Kindergarten but we are unable to take them in because it will take a toll on the teacher. We don’t have space to accommodate another teacher and we don’t want to rent a house as we will be going against the deed of Covenants. “ Education is a right and not a Privilege” all kids need to be in school and if we continue in sitting rooms of residents houses, we will be allowing Superior Homes to renege on their obligation more so parents will get tired of waiting for the Pre- School and take their kinds to Nairobi/ Athi River such that when the Kindergarten is finally set up they ( The Kindergarten Provider) will not be able to get critical mass of kids to enable them cover their overheads and as a result the few kids who will enroll in the Pre-School will be forced to pay exorbitant fees.
Comrades and fellow residents I call upon all of you to ensure that:
1. Superior Homes is compelled to finish on the minimum 2 classes that can be used starting September
2. The work that was done by the Nursery School sub-committee to be endorsed by the residents and we will send a petition to the residents to sign.
All this is in a bid to ensure that residents get comfort in the fact that the Pre-School that is set up within the estate is one that they will be comfortable to bring their children.
We have a Pre- School Follow up meeting this Friday August 10th 2012 at Superior Homes Offices and I want to urge all of you who can make it and especially those who have Pre-School going children to kindly plan to attend the meeting that is scheduled for 9am.
