If you are sponsoring/producing an Earth Day or other event which this
presentation could be a part of, that would be great, and please let me
know!
Or if you can suggest a park or other place with a small amphitheatre
or such which might suit this event, please let me know. One space I
have in mind is the amphitheatre at Secret Woods - I have a call in to
them to check availability.
This presentation is based on an Ecology Service I helped create and
present when I was in high school, and includes about an hour of
poetry, music and readings about nature, nukes, pollution,
environmental appreciation and stewardship, and more. I am currently
adding some new material, though the original material is still
amazingly relevant and pertinent today.
Also I'm seeking a new name for this presentation - any suggestions
welcome! - as this is not a religious service, but rather an artistic
event with the purpose of creating time and space for thought, feeling
and contemplation. My hope is this will help people process the deep
fears which have been raised by the nuclear accident in Japan, and lead
people to take action. I will be providing a resource sheet with a list
of credible organizations and actions people can participate in going
forward.
I'm interested in incorporating new staging, dance and theatrical
interpretation, to present this material in the most effective way
possible. I welcome input and participation from theatre/dance/art
people! But I also want to keep things reasonably simple and
manageable, for logistical ease and sanity!
Also I need a guitarist who can play a few songs with me including
America the Beautiful, What Have They Done To the Rain, possibly a
classical piece like Air on a G String, and maybe a few others. More
musicians would be great, but one guitarist would be sufficient.
If someone would like to do an adjunct craft activity that people could
participate in, like paper crane folding, that would be great as well!
If you are interested in helping create or present this special ecology
event, or have any suggestions regarding a space to present it, a
title, or any other aspects, please let me know ASAP!

Please feel free to share this info with others who you feel may wish
to help create/present/fund this event.
If you would like to offer funding, that would be great too. My goal is
to make this, insofar as possible, a "no budget" event in terms of
expenses, and to collect donations at the event (if allowed by the
venue) to go towards some nuclear-free cause. However use of a public
park may require a bit of funding. The amphitheatre at Secret Woods,
for example, costs $150 to rent for 4 hours.
I am hoping to present this more than once, and throughout South
Florida, so if you have a space or time or event this could be a part
of which is later than Earth Day, please get in touch as well.
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!
Best from the nest,
Laura Sue
