Dear Friends, Fans, Family and Members of the Press,

I am very excited to announce a special Silver and Velvet Musical
Meditation this month at The Velvet House, a lovely Art Studio and
Gallery!

Come join us for a beautiful Musical Meditation with peaceful flute
music, in a lovely creative atmosphere. Bring a pillow or mat, or relax
on our couches - sit, lie down, dance, stretch or do yoga with freeform
instrumental music. Or paint in our Painting Room, inspired by magical
music!

Silver and Velvet Musical Meditation will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014
at 4 PM. The Velvet House is located at 637 E. Dania Beach Blvd, Dania,
FL 33004 (in Danian Shopping Square). Suggested donation is $10.

This musical meditation is gentle, deep and transformative, yet also
allows people to experience the meditation in their own way and at
their own pace. There are no prerequisites, you do not have to be an
experienced meditator to benefit from this meditation. Just bring
yourself, wear some comfy clothes, relax and enjoy!

I have attached a small graphic for this Silver and Velvet event,
suitable for emailing, if you would like to share it with your friends.

always available to play at your social and spiritual gatherings, so
please call upon me if I may be of musical assistance!

3. CHANTING TO THE OPEN HEART

In April, we had a beautiful evening of Chanting and Community with
Shana Smith of the Gainesville Retreat Center at the very hospitable
Friends Meeting House in Lake Worth. This is the second Kirtan I have
played flute and percussion with my friend Shana, and there were truly
gorgeous harmonies and transcendent moments throughout the evening!
Shana comes down from Gainesville periodically to play in South
Florida, and we WILL be doing this again. Stay tuned!

In January, I was honored to make a presentation about my Hospice and
Hospital work to the Broward Health-Imperial Point Nursing Retreat! We
have been discussing a variety of ways to bring more music and arts
into Broward Health-Imperial Point Hospital, and I'm looking forward to
playing for the Nurses Awards Ceremony there on May 6! Please contact
me if you need musical support for a friend or relative who is
currently in a hospice or hospital.

6. NO NUKES IN MY CHERRY BLOSSOMS!
* * * * * * * * * * * * *

April 26 marks the third anniversary of my recording of Japanese
traditional song "Sakura", released on the 25th anniversary of the
start of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. I recorded "Sakura" (which
means Cherry Blossoms) in support of the Japanese people, who at that
time were just beginning to live with the massive radiation release
caused by the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Over three years later, this
radiation release remains uncontained and ongoing. Deadly radiation
continues to spread throughout the world, most affecting the people of
Japan in countless ways. 28 years on, Chernobyl shows us a little of
what the people of Japan are facing - what all of us are facing if we
don't end the use of nuclear power and weapons.
