Hi Christine,
I’m able to add Fiona, and not sure who else is. We probably should have 2-3 administrators for this group, which is very easy. If anyone is interested in being Admin for this site, we are taking applications now.
You must have an odd shoe size, know how to wear a lab coat backwards, and to sense the fragrance difference between an ester and a mercaptan. Some exceptions will be considered…
As far as swag goes…I was blown away when I was waiting for a bus in “Pharma Land” of South San Francisco, and a gentleman walked up with a smart windbreaker and a “Green Labs” logo on it. We had a great conversation on the bus! Yes, that would be pricey for a university…
Wouldn’t it be great if we could get T-shirts that were printed on used T-Shirts that had previous, random emblems on them?... perhaps turned inside out and worn that way??? That would be a zero landfill option.

I recently dabbled in frisbees as giveaways. A student volunteered to do the artwork and the material was made out of reclaimed fishing nets from the ocean. It was a way to promote health and well being in the labs, which is a category of our sustainability plan.
We also do reusable bags and freezer de-icing supplies as giveaways. I can share more details on any of these if you are interested.
Best,
Quentin

Subject: Lab Swag?
Hi everyone!

Hi all,
Nice little chain of ideas here. For our LEAF awards, in the past we’ve given out small cacti and plants to the labs. The cacti in particular will last over holiday periods, and have been found in some labs to have grown nicely years later!
Similarly to Quentin, one year we gave away plaques created from leftover plastics from the Thames river which were transformed into art.
Best, Martin
