Dear all,

My Greetings,

Water is very essential and an important resource to mankind which is dwindling away at real fast rate. There is definitely a need to conserve water, be it in our personal life or in our community living. The alumni of Sri Sathya Sai University, Puttaparthi proposes for a recyclable water treatment plant for the hostel to save this incredible elixir of life.

Hostel consists of 500 adults and their average consumption of water is approx. 120 liters/day/head. Of the 120 liters almost 40% of the water turns in to black water the remaining in to grey. The grey water consists of hand wash, bath and kitchen utilities (which contains oil and grease components). The Hostel looks forward for a proposal of a grey water treatment plant which must be able to recycle almost 40,000-45,000 lt/day  and the scheme should be eco friendly and self sustaining without much  human intervention. Also the scheme must if possible avoid use of power for processing.

I request all to please kindly suggest and help me in the endeavor to conserve our limited resources.

With Loving Regards

subbu

With a bit of creativity, your grey water treatment 'plant' can double
up as a nice landscaped garden with the use of Canna, Bamboo and the
above mentioned plants.

Good luck in your endeavor.

I am still wondering, do we have a engineering company that backs all these solutions in India. Without some company offering these as "services", all this is of very little value.

would you be able to elaborate "limited resource", that is for sure you don't want to hire any WW company for solution.

Dear All,

We are consulting engineers specialized in water treatment system (Raw, grey and black water). Look at our website www.mcdberl.com

Dear Mr. Subbu,

You can treat the grey water without electricity, and it is important to know where you are planning to use treated grey water: Do you want to use this landscape or garden watering purpose?

The water comes out from the kitchen is not grey and it is almost black, but you can reclaim it using grease trap. The best is to leave the kitchen waste water to black (meaning to make the treatment simple)

The water comes from the hand wash and shower (Bathing) can be reclaimed using reed bed system, again depends on where you wanted to use this water? (Depends on the quality of the water).

Reed Bed system consist of living plants called Reeds (which usually grows in the open tanks or lakes) which treat or digest the organic materials which presents in the grey water. Very neat and clean process, you don’t require to use mechanical or chemical treatment for this. We have used this technology in many of our projects including projects like Taj.

Please find attached the pictures of Reed bed system. If you need further assistance on this, please write to me Mah...@mcdberl.com,

Regards

Mahesh
