Hi All,
I have seen methane concentration in biogas varies between 50% - 70% and the concentration depends on the strength of the organic matter.

How do we measure the concentration of methane and carbon-di-oxide in biogas. Can anybody please let me know.

I have read in some blogs that if we use high strength organic matter in biogas plant, we get almost pure methane. Is that really possible.

Thanks,
Praveen.

You need to use orsat aparatus to dissolve CO2 and rest is methane, by volume. We neglect other traces.

I did some low level evaluation on this a long time back. You would probably need a gas analyser for this. If you're working at a lab scale, just go through Fischer Scientific's website or go talk to one of their reps. you should get an analyser that measures methane or atleast carbon dioxide so that you can get a fair idea of the methane percentage.

Sir,

im doing project on biogas plant. though im able to produce gas from organic waste, im unable to get the flame. so i wanted to check the methane content of the gas that is produced. i tried a lot to get the information regarding it but couldn't get. can u please send me the material too??
