Event Abstract - Union Govt has recently announced gene-edited rice varieties. This webinar recording helps us understand gene editing in context of agriculture, and focus on gene-edited rice varieties and its implications. 

Webinar speakers - 

Dr Krithika Yegna (earlier Gokulnath) is a biotechnologist - having studied Botany and Plant Biotechnology in B.Sc at Women's Christian College. She worked as a post doctoral researcher at Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai and served as visiting faculty there. She received Women Scientist Fellowship (WOS-A) from Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of India. She had a brief stint as a scientist at the Institute for Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bangalore.

Soumik Banerjee -  He is an independent Researcher and Practitioner of Agro-ecology & Heirloom Seed Conservation. He is currently engaged in conservation research of Indigenous varieties & Landraces of field crops through Field Conservation with farmer groups in eastern & central India.

कार्यक्रम का सार - केंद्र सरकार ने हाल ही में जीन-संपादित (एडिटेड) चावल की किस्मों की घोषणा की है। यह वेबिनार हमें कृषि के संदर्भ में जीन संपादन (एडिटिंग) को समझने में मदद करता है, और जीन-संपादित  (एडिटेड) चावल की किस्मों और इसके प्रभावों पर समझ बनाता है ।

वेबिनार के वक्ता - 

डॉ. कृतिका येग्ना (पहले गोकुलनाथ) एक बायोटेक्नोलॉजिस्ट हैं - जिन्होंने बीएससी में वनस्पति विज्ञान और प्लांट बायोटेक्नोलॉजी का अध्ययन किया है। उन्होंने चेन्नई के अन्ना विश्वविद्यालय के सेंटर फॉर बायोटेक्नोलॉजी में पोस्ट डॉक्टरेट शोधकर्ता के रूप में काम किया। उन्हें भारत सरकार के विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग से महिला वैज्ञानिक फैलोशिप (WOS-A) मिली। उन्होंने बैंगलोर के इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर बायोइंफॉर्मेटिक्स एंड एप्लाइड बायोटेक्नोलॉजी (IBAB) में एक वैज्ञानिक के रूप में कुछ समय तक काम किया।

सौमिक बनर्जी - वे जैविक/प्राकृतिक खेती और बीज विरासत संरक्षण के एक स्वतंत्र शोधकर्ता हैं। वे वर्तमान में पूर्वी और मध्य भारत में किसान समूहों के साथ देसी किस्मों के संरक्षण के अनुसंधान में लगे हुए हैं।
