Hi, this message is going out to the Google group.  I'd like to send the following message out to everybody on our Green Breathing email list, but I need help translating it into Chinese.
Last time I asked for help translating, three different people did it -- oops!  So, this time, I'm using this Google group email list to ask for help.  If you're available, and can translate it (I need it right away!), please send a message back saying "I'll do it!" and that way, I won't be wasting anybody's valuable time.

====================================
Hello,
First I'd like to express my deepest sympathies for the terrible tragedy that happened in Sichuan province last Monday.  It is truly heartrending to read the news and see the images coming from that region.  The unimaginable suffering there is something that should give us all a reason for reflection about the terrible fragility of life.

It's my conviction, though, that the fight against the scourge of smoking should continue, even in the present circumstances.  Keep in mind how many people smoking kills, and how horribly they die.  Smoking, of course, is not as dramatic as an earthquake, and the news doesn't show the victims of cigarettes dying slowly of lung cancer, but that doesn't mean that they deserve our help and care any less.  To put it in perspective, in the week since the earthquake, about 23,000 Chinese people have died from cigarettes.  Of those, about 3000 were non-smokers, who were killed by second-hand smoke.  This same number of people are killed, every week of every year.

The main campus Green Breathing will have one, and possibly two events coming up in the near future.

The first is tentative, and is another lecture / English salon at the Jiageng building.  We have not firmly decided that this will take place, but we are hopeful.  If it does, it will be next Sunday evening.  This time, I hope we can focus more on:  1, how to help our friends and loved ones to quit smoking, and 2, how to promote a more meaningful smoke-free campus.

The second is an event to mark the World No Tobacco Day, on May 31st (two weeks from today, see http://www.who.int/mediacentre/events/annual/wntd/en/index.html or http://www.who.int/tobacco/communications/events/wntd/en/index.html).  We would like to solicit everybody's help in thinking of ideas for activities that can be held on that day.  We would also very much appreciate it if you could volunteer, and help us to find other volunteers.

In addition, I'd like to draw your attention to several new posts on our website, http://www.greenbreathing.com/.  We are trying to get better at updating the website to let everybody know what is going on.  If you use an online newsreader, you can subscribe to the "blog feed" using this address:  http://greenbreathing.org/?feed=rss2.
