Please
come celebrate! The prestigious international Green Flag award will be
given to Acton-Boxborough Regional High School- the
4th school in the United States to receive this honor! The award is in recognition of significant success in energy conservation and other green initiatives including:
- 10% drop in electricity consumption
- an "extreme
makeover" of the cafeteria - recycling is boosted to 250% of last year's
levels and food scraps are now captured for composting - trash is
reduced to four bags instead of forty!!
- planting a beautiful
rain garden
- promoting reusable water bottles
- maintaining a big worm "bench"
that is nourished with food scraps from the cafeteria
- lots more...
Student leadership has been a key component of these successes, and so has
community support.
Please come join in the celebration - we want you with us for this big day!
We will be joined by:
- US Congresswoman Niki Tsongas
- Senator James Eldridge
- Representative Jen Benson
- a National Wildlife Federation representative presenting a big green flag!
- talented students breakdancing, juggling and making music
- and you we hope!
