The Green Acton Gas Leaf Blower Working Group is designing a campaign to educate the public and encourage a vote for the Town Meeting Warrant Article for a local bylaw to phase out use of most of these machines. (Town Meeting is scheduled for May 5 and 6; the vote on this is likely to be on 5/6; we will forward the final version of the proposed bylaw as soon as we are able.)
The campaign will be conducted primarily via a series of informative emails and some social media posts. But the first step is inviting folks to sign up for that series of emails. Hence, we ask that all you GA peeps do that ASAP! (Thank you.)
Please read this missive being sent out to invite sign-ups:
Do you find the noise, fumes, and thick clouds of dust created by gas-powered leaf blowers annoying? You’re not alone! But do you realize the risks they pose to the health of your family, landscape workers, and the planet? We need your help in phasing out these toxic machines in Acton.
Green Acton has launched a campaign to pass a bylaw — at Acton’s May 5 Town Meeting — that would phase out the use of gas leaf blowers. Your voice and your vote are crucial in this effort. Many towns across the country and nearby (e.g., Concord, Lexington, Lincoln) have already adopted restrictions; we know Acton can, too!
If you care about quieter neighborhoods, cleaner air, and a healthier environment, we invite you to learn more and join the campaign. Please sign up soon to receive updates and find out how you can help: QuieterCleanerActon.org
Together, we can create a cleaner, quieter, and healthier Acton!
Thank you,
The Quieter, Cleaner Acton team of Green Acton

And please share this info with Acton friends, family, and neighbors! TY
