For those of you who don't already know, I'm excited to announce that my wife Steph is running for School Board in Alexandria, Virginia.  Now that we have our daughter Cora, we are both committed to helping make Alexandria Public Schools even better and to closing the achievement gap that unfortunately still exists in our community.  

Steph is the only experienced teacher in the race and has spent her entire career in K-12 education. She taught bilingual elementary school in Brooklyn and most recently serving as Senior Managing Director for Teach for America in the DC region.  And she's married to a Greek American progressive so she's a really strong candidate! 

Steph is organizing a launch event in the Del Ray neighborhood (where we live) of Alexandria on Sunday, September 30th at 3pm.  We would love to see any of you who can make it.  See the invitation below.  For those of you who can't make it, we would certainly welcome any support you can give. There are several links below on ways you can help either through time or donation.  It's a competitive race with 6 people running for 3 slots, so it's all going come down to name recognition and an effective ground game.
