Hello, and welcome to fantasy football.
Entry fee - For various reasons, the entry fee for the league will again be $150 dollars. Please paypal $150 dollars by the end of the week. Otherwise, a $20 fee will be added to go toward the league grand prize.
Blake Morris Rule - Remember the additional rule that last place will pay the team with the highest single week score $50. Not sure who that was from last year, or if the money was paid, but I'll look it up and we can work it out with fees.
Replacement Tax - Also, there is a $100 fine for leaving the league without lining up a willing replacement. The fine will go toward paying the entry fee of the team we find to replace you, though you shouldn't drop out cause it screws everyone else over.
Binding Agreement - By sending in your $75 dollar deposit last year, you agreed to these rules. If you want to discuss them before sending in your payment, feel free to complain to Andy or Geer or Vice Commissioner Lebron.
Payouts - The pot will be 1800 bucks, which is nice. It's actually probably a little less after a few of you inevitably won't be able to figure out how to pay with Paypal without a fee. Don't mention why you're paying though because they get pissed about "gambling," and have already tried to shut my account down for march madness. There will be a 6 team playoff with the top two seeds getting a bye.
Tentative payout is:
1st - 700
2nd - 400
3rd - 300
4th - 150
5th - 100
6th - 50
12th - negative 50
Highest Total Points - 100
Highest Single Week Score - 50
Keeper Rules - Two Keepers
First Keeper - Mandatory (no restrictions).
Second Keeper - Lose next year's pick two rounds higher than where
they were drafted. Worst pick you can give up is 6th round (i.e. if
you draft Priest Holmes in the 12th round, you would have to give up a
6th rounder). Not mandatory and no other restrictions. You are
welcome to keep only one player and retain all of your draft picks.
You're second keeper in later years cannot be your mandatory keeper
from the year before. If you want to keep Priest Holmes forever, you
have to use your first keeper each year. This keeps you from picking
Priest Holmes up off the waiver wire, keeping him with your first
keeper, then using a 6th rounder the next year, then 4th, then 2nd.
Draft Order - There will be some type of lottery for the non-playoff teams. The rest will be randomized.
Draft Schedule - I will put together a google document to try and figure down a Goode time for a draft.
Arbitration - By reading this email, you submit yourself to binding arbitration in the even of a disagreement between you and the league office related to Greatness Fantasy Football, or anything else (related or not). Such arbitration will take place in front of a panel of industry (maybe) experts made up of whomever the commissioner believes is most likely to make the correct decision, including, but not limited to, the commissioner.
Final Thoughts - "It is incumbent upon us to understand [the] [G]reatness and believe in [me] so that we do not cheapen and profane ourselves." - Meir Kahane (alterations added)
