Options for next year, past experience?

I've studied great lakes cruising history more than options to actually do it. Has anybody taken any of the small ships that come to the lakes?

I'm curious if we will see the major cruise lines travel the lakes when and if they expand the seaway in ten years. There are a lot of great cities on the lakes, and countless things that could be done for shore excursions.
