Associate Programmer Analyst

Our client is an insurance industry leader providing a full-line of products ranging from personal lines to commercial insurance products.  The company is currently looking to add an Associate Programmer/Analyst to their Agile Software Development team.  This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with 1-2 years of JAVA experience.  The position is on a dynamic Agile team that is responsible for corporate systems development related to e-commerce, policy and claims oriented applications.  Looking for motivated individuals who have a passion for the technology, the right attitude, an aptitude to learn, and the ability to drive projects.

 

 The following are high level requirements for the role:    

·         1-2 Years of Java Development and Coding Experience in a team environment.

·         Extreme attention to details, persistence and creativity to validate the product against functional and technical specifications and improve overall product quality.

·         Experience working closely with Developers and Product Managers to develop, maintain and execute testing procedures.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Meet with the business users in the Lending team to map, diagram and document current manual workflow, and guide automation  functionality/design from an IT view.

·         Java Developer – for the policy administration systems including billing and pricing

·         .NET Developer – for internal SharePoint portals and applications that support those portals, the client is currently using SharePoint 2007 and will be migrating to SharePoint 2013

·         Participate in daily stand up meetings (prioritize daily tasks and work groups).

·         Discuss user stories with the business process owner to define the requirement and test criteria.

·         Work with team to code and deploy applications.

·         Participate in peer code reviews and work with testing team for quality assurance.

·         Develop software based on two-week cycles (sprints), every two weeks participate in a review and demonstration for business stakeholders.

·         Conduct face-to-face interaction/communication with multiple levels of the organization.

·         Perform post-production application and system support – Level 2-3 escalations.

·         Mentor based professional development - “round robin” method, initially move projects every two weeks to be mentored by a different individual on the team.

·         Engage in paired programming for more complex, time sensitive projects.

 

Experience

·         1-2 years of Object Oriented Programming experience with Java

·         1-2 years of SQL query development

·         Bachelors of Computer Science, Management Information Systems, a degree in a related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

 

Additional Preferred Knowledge/Experience

·         Experience with Software Quality Assurance including Automated Unit Testing and/or Test Driven Design

·         Familiarity with SOAP & HTML web services

·         Familiarity with Agile SCRUM Methodology

·         Familiarity with JSF,SEAM,J2EE ,HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

·         Knowledge of Insurance Systems
