Presentation Details::
The JavaScript language has a bad reputation in the Java world.
But
since the explosion of AJAX, it has become a necessary tool for almost
all web based developers.
JavaScript tends to be the language that people have to use out of
necessity; few take the time to truly learn it.
Ted will be going over
various features of the language from the perspective of a Java
programmer.
Specifically he will talk about individual features of Java and
discuss how they can be replicated in JavaScript (type system, classes,
public/private members, inheritance, packages, etc...).
With each he will discuss the pros and cons of such approaches.
A little time on some of the newer languages that generate JavaScript (specifically Coffeescript and Dart) .
Ted hope that everyone leaves with a newfound respect for JavaScript.
