COMMUNITY THEATER GROUPS COMBINE TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PLAY PERFORMANCES AT MASON MUSEUM -- The Island City Players and Generations Community Theater have teamed up this year to present a group of live radio play performances this holiday season to benefit the Mason Area Historical Society. They will perform in a 1940s radio play style several Christmas-themed selections, including “Miracle on 34th Street.”

MAHS secretary Doug Klein says, “The year after COVID, they came to perform in our Museum’s auditorium to help support us. In 2022, they did a mash-up of ‘A Christmas Carol,’ and in 2023, it was a ‘Grinch’ play. Last year they did an amusing “Dickensey” radio play with a rhyming cadence that Dr. Suess would have found familiar.”

“This year, the selections at each performance range from a holiday tribute to ‘The Shadow’ -- a mysterious iconic character from the 1940s – to the more familiar 1960s Charlie Brown Christmas. The highlight, however, is a radio play version of the beloved ‘Miracle on 34th Street,’ he added.

The performances will be presented on Friday, December 12, 2025, and Saturday, December 13, 2025, each at 7:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on December 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Admission at the door is a donation of $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for kids.

Performances are in the 90-seat Virginia Schlichter Auditorium at the Mason Area Historical Museum, 200 E. Oak Street, in downtown Mason. Auditorium doors open about fifteen minutes before each performance. There will be a short intermission with snacks available; however, patrons are also welcome to exit and re-enter quietly at any time. The Museum will be open for touring by visitors an hour before the performances.

The Island City Players and Generations Community Theater’s productions are a fundraiser to support the upkeep of the Mason Area Historical Museum. They did similar productions to aid the Mason Area Historical Society in 2018 and 2019 before COVID. Many area residents may also fondly remember the Mason Coventry Players, who last performed at the Museum back in 2004.
