The LCC Performing Arts Department is offering seven FREE performances in December

Climate Change Theatre Action: The Time is Now
December 3 @ Noon and 7 p.m.
LCC Black Box Theatre – 411 N. Grand Avenue, Gannon Building, Room 1422

LCC is participating in the global Climate Change Theatre Action festival with two performances of short plays from different countries, poetry, art and information presented by a multidisciplinary group of students, staff and faculty on Dec. 3 at Noon and 7 p.m. in LCC’s Black Box Theatre.

LCC’s production features six CCTA plays: Here in the Long Now by Isla Cowan (Scotland), The Donation by Jordan Hall (Canada), Space Cat by Lewis Hetherington (Scotland), The Presentation by Juan C. Sanchez (U.S./Cuba), Friends for Life by Himali Kothari (India) and Now by Wren Brian (Scotland/Canada). The plays are being directed by theatre faculty, Emma Baker, Ginneh Thomas and Paige Tufford.

The event will also include displays of event posters created by Graphic Design students, climate-themed poetry from the LCC Community-Generated Poetry Project, and a Reclaimed Fashion Show of garments made from recycled materials by LCC Art and Design Students.

Launched in 2015, Climate Change Theatre Action is a worldwide festival of short plays about the climate crisis. Fifty professional playwrights, representing all inhabited continents as well as several cultures and Indigenous nations, are commissioned to write five-minute plays about an aspect of the climate crisis based on a prompt. This collection of plays is then available to potential organizers interested in presenting an event in their community during the festival’s time window.
