Hey - GLUT Lady here, just a nudge that all GLUTsters should throw some buck$ to local theatres this Giving Tuesday or thereabouts. (All area theatres are listed at
www.greaterlansingtheatre.net.)
In my prejudiced opinion it’s Riverwalk and Williamston that feel most worthy investment$ because of having the re$ponsibility for Building$ and employee$ — and of course Arts Grant funding is iffy these days:
Riverwalk reports:
• New NEA eligibility requirements means our programming no longer qualifies for funding we’ve historically depended on.
• State grant cycles are delayed, and none of the annual opportunities we apply for have opened yet — leaving a major gap in our expected revenue.
• Business donations are down, with many long-time sponsors tightening their budgets or shifting priorities.
These shifts are substantial. While they don’t threaten our mission, they do challenge our day-to-day operations; the unglamorous but essential work that allows us to produce shows, maintain our facility, support artists, and remain a gathering place for our community.
That’s why this GivingTuesday is so critical. Every gift, at any level, helps stabilize our season and ensures we can continue offering the art, connection, and belonging that make Riverwalk Theatre so special.
If you’re able, we’d be honored to have your support today. And if you’ve already given — thank you for helping us keep moving forward.
Giving is easy, and it only takes a few minutes to help keep the arts vibrant, inclusive, and thriving. Will you give today to help us reach our goal by December 2nd?
