Details to follow early next year, but I’m reminding everyone now so you can get started on your travel paperwork if you wish.
Feel free to forward this email. Please let me know if you received it in error and I will apologize and take you off my list.
Our programming contest will take place on Saturday, February 9th, 2019.
There will be novice and advanced Java divisions (including both programming and written test), and elementary, middle, and high school Scratch divisions (programming only).
Check in for schools with Java teams in will start at 7:30AM. Java written test will be at 9:00AM.
I’m up in the air about the Scratch scheduling and solicit your opinions. My current thought is to run the Scratch programming contest concurrent with the Java programming contest, 11:00AM – 1:00PM, and have schools that are bringing only Scratch teams check in as late as 9:30AM (and order pizza at the same time, since we need to have the pizza orders tabulated by 10:00AM or so).
I see that last year we had a three-hour Scratch contest, but I do not remember the reasoning behind that. I solicit your opinions on that as well – we could run the Scratch contest from 10:00AM – 1:00PM if that seemed like a good idea.
I really, really hope that all teams, Scratch included, can bring their own laptops – it’s better for you to have equipment you are used to, and it’s better for us not to have to deal with loaning computers. At the very least, I’d need notice far, far in advance of equipment that we needed to loan (to Scratch teams only – Java teams have always brought their own equipment).
Last year’s materials are attached. I think I can send zips now, so I’m sending it zipped. If you have trouble receiving it, please let me know. There should be one Java zip and one Scratch zip.
Hope to see you in February!

These addresses said my first email was rejected, so I am trying this again without the zip files. It is therefore not organized, but hopefully it will come through.
