This February, Misogi co-founders Deann Garcia and Aliza Richman toed the line in hopes of completing their own personal misogi challenges: completing the 1500km Atlas Mountain Race in Morocco. Things did not go according to plan. Crazy rain storms, unusual cold, high winds, and course reroutes that added nearly 90km to the race course took their toll on the two, causing each to DNF.
What does it mean to attempt something so far out of one’s comfort zone, with such a true risk of failure? And what happens when failure comes, but not because of anything within one’s control? What feelings have to be wrestled with when a full year of investment in planning, gear, and training does not pay off? Deann and Aliza will walk you through their experiences attempting one of the premiere MTB ultras in the world, show pictures, answer questions, and discuss these existential questions.
