Hello GEARs,

We’re looking for energized and creative Riders, to help shape the future of GEARs Overnight Rides and Tours.

If you enjoy Adventure Riding, Bike Camping, or Touring — or just like the idea of helping make these Rides happen — we invite you to join us for an informal planning meetup:

Papa’s Pizza (11th & Chambers – 1700 W. 11th Ave)
6:00 p.m.

Sam McCament, Mark La Page, Richard Hughes, and I will be there to talk ideas and start building future GEARs Adventures together.

Sam has also created a new “Overnights & Tours” page on the GEARs website (under Ride Schedules). Our hope is to grow broader involvement, and Rides that reflect the creativity and interests of more of our members. This page is to help GEARs Riders see what’s coming and help them plan and prepare.

Currently being discussed:
Cottage Grove Weekend (June 26–28) – bike camping or even car camping at Schwarz Campground, plus the Row River Trail ride on the 27th.
4-night Mixed Surface Tour (late July) – possible Riding and camping along the Aufderheide (details coming)
Day Tour Idea – Amtrak to Albany, then Ride the final section of the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway back to Eugene (late May/early June target)

Riding is not just a spectator sport, if you want to help plan, suggest routes, coordinate logistics, or even eventually lead a Ride, we’d love your voice at the table – at the Pizza Table!  (Food/Beverages not provided).

GEARs works best when members help create the experiences we all enjoy.

Come help shape your next GEARs Adventure Ride.

If you have questions, contact me at la...@eugenegears.org.

Peace,
Larry
