before we start making use of this forum, the number one thing we have
to do is spread the word and let people know about it. i've asked
betsy to put a message in this weeks email. and i've invited a lot of
people i thought would be interested. i think it's key that we get at
least a few representatives from each of the ultimate cities in china,
so that we have a good way to communicate with each other.
i've also asked tina to put up some chinese welcome messages. i want
to encourage people to post in both chinese and english. this should
be a bi-lingual forum, not something that is mostly for expats.
once we get more people in the group, from all the different areas of
china, we can start discussing how to grow the sport.

but to answer your question, the only way that would be possible is if
everyone went on their google profile and entered that information and
made it public.
so how was manila?

what can we do with google docs? Is it possible to upload word
documents with a map? Or maybe it could just be a simple excel
spreadsheet that people can fill out. Not sure what the best way it
would be, but it'll just make sure we don't miss out on people (this
is coming from the guy who doesn't know many people in China's
ultimate)
who's representing from shanghai?
As for Manila. It was a good tournament. Personally, I don't think
I've been able to step it up in bigger games, and that has been a
little dissapointing.
Kwong
we are about to hold our annual elections in beijing. one of the
positions on the committee is outreach, which includes helping to
recruit and develop chinese players. so one of their initial tasks
will be to help guide this survey process. i think it's good to have
a general idea of how many ultimate communities we have in china and
how many people there are playing as a base before we start moving
forward.
there has also been a lot of talk of beijing hosting the china
national tournament this may, which i think is a primary reason why we
are taking the lead in getting this information.
also on the agenda is forming a formal association for greater china
ultimate, which should help with finding sponsorship and the like. i
think the chinese players are going to have to take the lead there,
but again i think the first step is finding out how many chinese
players we have and where they are located.
as for shanghai players, i invited jorve, but i don't think he has
joined yet. i also announced the group on the asian utlimate list and
invited people to join. maybe someone should go to their forum and
make an announcement there to make people aware of what we are doing.
i get the impression that outreach to local players isn't a priority
there.
