Everyone,

We have a position open on the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) team. The official description is devoid of flavor, so I thought I'd throw it out here in my own words.

This is the official job title:

Sr. Cloud Systems Administrator – BlueIntel

About the Position

We have several superstars.  We're looking for one more.  The position is a senior technical position on the BCBS CTI team, comprised of ~90 analysts nationwide. The right person will need to fit in culturally (tone of the group is a lot like RedHat), be versed in Linux sysadmin tools and techniques, Python, Bash scripting, Docker, and be no stranger to fixing stuff.  Other parts of the job include participating in operations, where you'll need familiarity with hacker culture, offensive tactics, and hacking in general (the old school definition).  It would help if you're also comfortable with AWS, the Unix philosophy, data analytics, structured and unstructured datastores, and SQL and NoSQL databases. Red team experience is a plus.

About the Team

The team is unique in having no reliance on vendors. Our collections, tools, infrastructure, and methods are produced by the team.  We do very little IOC focused work, primarily focusing on SIGINT and HUMINT instead.  Cool stuff?  You bet! Confidential sources, adversary space operations, active measures, adversary interactions, non-attributable ops, autonomous collections, collaboration with others both on and off the record, collaboration with LE...the list goes on.  Team is entirely detached from the mothership. We run our own infrastructure and communications without involvement of any other team within the company.  This translates into stability of working for a Fortune 3, with the agility, passion, and innovation of a startup.

Pay: we'll talk about it, but the published range is $100K-$150K

Remote: For the right candidate, full time remote is an option.

Relocation: If you want to come live in Chicago we'll pay for the move.

Education: Yes! Courses, training, conferences.  interacting with the rest of the team will teach you things as well.

Requirements: Pass the interview circuit.  That's it!  We don't mind if you never finished high school, and we don't care if you got your CISSP.  Being able to do the work and contribute to the team at the desired level is the only requirement. Bonuses if you have done work we can look at (open-source projects, research, or anything else in the space).

Please contact me if you are interested! I have been working here now for 1 1/2 years and really enjoy it.
