FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sanford Children’s offers Reach Out and Read program
(Bismarck, N.D.) – Sanford Children’s now offers the Reach Out and Read program in the pediatric clinic in the Q&R Tower.
Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide. Sanford doctors, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals will incorporate Reach Out and Read into well-child visits by advising parents about the importance of reading aloud and giving developmentally appropriate books to children. The program begins at the 6-month checkup and continues through age 5.
Craig and Shelly Larson of Bismarck gave $10,000 to the Sanford Health Foundation to make this program possible.
Sanford Children’s is the first clinic in Bismarck to offer this program. For more information about Reach Out and Read, visit bismarck.sanfordhealth.org/kids.
