Mistake by Officials

Actual game situation. GBS@Loyola 4/28. GBS goalie is clearing the
ball, which becomes loose near mid-field. Play on push called in favor
of Loyola. Immediate whistle. Loyola goalie was not allowed 5 seconds
to recover the goal. In an instant, Loyola shoots, goal, whistle.
Before the next face, officials confer and acknowledge their error
(4.25 Situation C). Loyola asserts that the first mistaken whistle
cannot be undone once the goal is scored. I do not agree and take the
goal away. Ball awarded to Loyola outside the box.
I found nothing in the IHSA rule book that precisely addresses this
situation other than the general language of Rule 7-13. Please let me
know if you are aware of it. To make matters worse, the proper ruling
may have been to deny the goal, and award the ball to GBS, as the ball
was loose in the goal at the end of the play. Any comments on this
result?
PS: I believe the error would not be correctable after the whistle on
the next face. See 7.13 Situation C, on early release of man from box.
PPS In my last NCAA game, the crew chief advised of a new mechanic in
NCAA games that would have allowed the goal in this situation, but
this has not been confirmed. In any case, the mechanic would not apply
to an IHSA game.

I agree with the result ...take the goal away and give ball to Loyola.

I think you meant to say "GBS" (not Loyola) "goalie was not allowed 5
seconds"

The rule that was "mis-applied" that started the controversy I believe
was: 2009 NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rule 4.25.3 "The goalkeeper shall be
given a maximum of five seconds to re-enter the crease on any
restart."
-------------------------------------------------------

I agree the way to correct the error is spelled out in Rule 7.13.1
"Correction of Errors" blah, blah....."prior to next live ball"
there is no wording with respect to a goal scored, etc. To me the
correction is to award the ball to Loyola at the spot where the ball
was when the original "play-on" was blown dead (outside the box of
course).
--------------------------------------------------------
I believe NCAA Rule 7.12 is consistent with NFHS " ....If goals are
scored during the mistake made by the timekeeper, scorer or official
and it is brought to the attention of the referee before the next live
ball, the referee must allow or disallow the goal, depending on the
circumstances."

Yes I meant GBS goalie. Also I now have heard that the purported NCAA
mechanic change on this
does not exist. Goalie gets 5 second reset on any restart anywhere.
