天文夏令营
由著名天文学家葛健教授亲领和指导的棱蒙山天文夏令营帮助高中生熟悉天文基本知识，学习使用天文望远镜和观测，了解前沿地外行星搜寻，学习数据处理和分析。葛教授注重培养学生对科学的热爱，好奇心，想象力，创造力和动手能力。观测训练包括成像，光度和光谱测量。学员们可以选择观测自己感兴趣的天文目标，处理数据和写科学论文。学员们在夏令营结束后一年之内也都可以提交书面观测申请使用1.27米自动化望远镜，申请批准后即可观测天文目标。待数据得到后，学员就可进行研究和写科学论文，并参加各种国内，国际科学比赛。在葛教授实验室暑假做过研究的高中生中，有多位去了顶尖大学，和赢了西门子科学竞赛。夏令营的详细内容请查看https://sites.google.com/graciousstrength.com/education/astronomy-summer-camp
Astronomy Summer Camp
This camp is designed and directed by Professor Jian Ge of Astronomy at University of Florida. The camps aim to inspire high school students’ science interests, curiosity, imagination, and creativity, and improve problem solving skills and hands on experiences. High school students will have opportunities to learn astronomical observations at Mt. Lemmon observatory and cutting-edge exoplanet hunting. Observation topics include imaging, photometry and spectroscopy. Students will also learn astronomy basics, conduct nighttime observations, and learn to analyze data. Access to UF’s 50-inch telescope will enable students to undertake authentic research projects with the potential for scientific publication. Campers can also access the 50-inch throughout the year for continuing research after the camp once their observing requests are approved by Dr. Ge. The research findings will be encouraged to participate in national and international science competitions and publishing.
