Adyar, Cooum River Project Status

I am just updating the status of Adyar Cooum project here. 

Phase 1 started with Photo shoots of the worst status of the rivers, followed by the complaint and RTI to enquire into the river's maintenance in the month of Feb, 2013. Following up of the RTIs extended upto roughly August 2013. But the 2nd appeals filed on those months were called for only by Feb, 2014.

Phase 2 started in Aug, 2013 with RTIs enquiring the action taken on the complaints filed in Feb, 2013. It extended upto Dec, 2013 with 5 second appeals filed on 5 departments. We are yet to hear from Information Commission for those RTIs, which we believe might happen in next couple of months.

Regarding Phase 3, we do have plans, but not enough time right now. But we will plan for it asap.

Right now, we are summarising all the information that we collected in this regard, in last 1 year. It will be done in next 1 month, hopefully !!

Regarding the success of the phases, we didnt have set any specific goals to achieve rather than the Restoration and Cleanup of the rivers itself. So, whatever work done is supposed to be a failure. But in the process, we LEARNED A LOT and we believe, we have pressurised the officials, who are responsible for the maintenance of rivers, to do their work properly. With continued efforts, we will achieve victory someday.
