Silicon Motion's unique SM2320 external portable SSD controller solution features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, advanced SSD controller architecture and four NAND channels, and delivers sequential read/write speeds up to 2,100 / 2,000 MB/s. By eliminating a USB bridge chip typically required in other more traditional designs, the SM2320 solution also lowers the Bill of Material (BOM) cost and power consumption. The SM2320 controller solution includes Silicon Motion's NANDXtend ECC end-to-end data path protection and supports up to 4TB of capacity using the latest TLC and QLC NAND. Additionally, the SM2320 controller solution supports the highest level of data security by providing AES 256-bit encryption, full compliance with the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Opal specification and auxiliary Fingerprint Security support.

"The market for high-performance external portable SSDs is expected to grow due to the wide range of applications requiring fast external storage such as gaming consoles and laptops used for data intensive applications like image and video storage and editing," said Stanley Huang, Senior Director of SSD Storage Marketing at Silicon Motion. "The best external portable SSDs are not just delivering faster performance, but also offering lower power, smaller size and lower cost. By eliminating the bridge chip design, our new portable SSD controller solutions provide a simpler, more cost-effective solution for this growing product segment."

Firmanın Outlook biriminin yöneticisi Javier Soltero'nun paylaştığı bir blog gönderisinde, @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com ya da @msn.com uzantılı bir Microsoft e-posta adresine sahip kullanıcıların 30 Haziran'dan sonra Windows Live Mail 2012'yi kullanamayacakları ifade ediliyor.

The code-morphing technique translates computer instructions meant for an Intel x86 chip into ones the Transmeta chip understands. Once translated, the instructions live in a special patch of memory that is easily accessed. Improvements to the translation software theoretically improve the performance of the chip.

Between January 2000--when Transmeta introduced the chip--and the delivery of Transmeta's first chips nine months later, Intel started work on a new line of energy-efficient processors and began to promote them heavily with major computer makers such as IBM.

On a Monday afternoon in a 100-year-old loft building with views of Seattle's Elliott Bay, Giller convenes a meeting of the editorial staff at an oak conference table picked up, used, for $200. The office furniture consists mostly of hand-me-downs from dot-com crack-ups, and the windows are open because, of course, there's no air conditioning. Five people sit around the table, and Kathryn Schulz '96, who is Grist's editor-at-large and lives in Brooklyn, is on speakerphone.

Along with hitting the switch on a stowaway wireless chip, the company introduced a mobile app for iOS devices (sorry Android fans, we live in an iOS-first world). It's kind of crazy to think it took Lytro this long to drop an app, but it perfectly complements the newest hardware capability. With it, you can bypass Lytro's desktop software. When your mobile device connects to the network broadcast by the wireless chip, it transfers the living photos, which can be refocused, to the app. There, images can also be shared to lytro.com, Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or text message.
