Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings!

Before initiating an international network on Biodiversity Governance the Grassroots Institute | www.grassrootsinstitute.in | and the Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia Central University | http://jmi.ac.in/otherinstitutes/atws.htm | have been doing a Study on Inclusion of Indigenous Peoples and their Rights in ABS Regime (Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits arising from Access to and Utilization of Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge) including Nagoya Protocol. Under this study we are executing an Opinion Survey of the international organizations/forums, civil society groups, academic & research institutions, associations of indigenous people, tribal movements, and individuals who are directly/indirectly concerned with the ABS issues or working on the issues of biodiversity conservation and indigenous traditional knowledge.

So we request you to take part in the Opinion Survey on ABS. Kindly respond to certain questions and post or e-mail this format back to us. We are attaching two formats in this mail:

1. International ABS Regime

2. Indigenous Peoples and ABS Regime

Please spare little time and respond in appropriate format. We’ll duly acknowledge your name in the analysis and outcome of this Opinion Survey, and the final report of the study will be shared with you. We’ll be obliged if you please respond back as soon as possible to:

Dr. Sabiha Alam, Associate Professor, Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia Central University, New Delhi – 110025 INDIA | sabih...@hotmail.com  OR

Dr. Hasrat Arjjumend, Director, Grassroots Institute, PO Building, Banjar – 175123 Kullu (HP), INDIA | dire...@grassrootsinstitute.in

We look forward to hear from you as early as possible. We’d also consider the respondents as potential members of network on Biodiversity Governance.

Very truly yours,

HASRAT ARJJUMEND

Senior Fellow
