Grass Energy Biomass Field Day
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
12:30 to 4:00pm
Meach Cove Farm Trust, Shelburne, VT

Come join us for this afternoon event to highlight recent
collaborative research looking at the potential of perennial and
annual grasses for biomass production in Vermont. This location at
Meach Cove Farm Trust is one of four sites - where perennial and
annual grasses are being tested for adaptation and productivity for
biomass. You will be able to look at various grasses under cultivation
- including, Switchgrass, Miscanthus, Big Bluestem, Reed Canarygrass,
and others. You will also learn about the results of new pelletization
and combustion research conducted over the past 9 months by the Grass
Energy Partnership. Guest speaker Mr. Calvin Ernst, founder and owner
of Ernst Conservation Seed in PA, will talk about grasses suited for
the Northeast and their potential for biomass energy. Other speakers
include Adam Sherman from the Biomass Energy Resource Center, Netaka
White of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, and Sid Bosworth of UVM
Extension.

Hi Jock: If you think the attached presentation is useful without the
presenter,
please distribute. This presentation was made last week at the U.S. Biochar
conference in Ames Iowa. It addresses the current viability of carbon
credit markets for pyrolysis-biochar pathways.
