AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software that is used for precise 2D and 3D drafting, design, and modeling with solids, surfaces, mesh objects, documentation features, and more. It includes features to automate tasks and increase productivity such as comparing drawings, counting, adding objects, and creating tables. It also comes with seven industry-specific toolsets for electrical design, plant design, architecture layout drawings, mechanical design, 3D mapping, adding scanned images, and converting raster images. AutoCAD enables users to create, edit, and annotate drawings via desktop, web, and mobile devices.

(autocad must not creat new layers [imported layers])

Causes: when i plot-preview on autocad (with their plot style, its full of colors and the thickness is different), but the most annoying thing is that it creates new layers (imported from Inventor).

Attemptes: In inventor I change to colors, it was so tedious, needed to write down all the index colors from autocad and write the RGB of wich index color it represent and then with the RGB code went to inventor style of layers and change them because there is no index color input in inventor only RBG, yeay!.....also imported the line type files, then i export the drawing to autocad using the client's templates and then apply the plot style preview and voil! .....it doesn't work.

I even try this: Creat inventor drawing template (client) with all the layers with the correct color scheme, line types and thiknesses-> export to autocad with clients template -> apply plot style-> preview -> it doesnt work.

Help anybody, cant find a tutorial or any especification

Beyond that just work on informing your client that due to differences in CAD applications a lot of manual work will be required to transition from one format to another if they hope to maintain their existing customizations..

Oh boy, time is money, should have put higher price on the budget. dammit.

So your telling me that until know, (in our case scenario, when the client uses other templates and on an other autodesk software) there is no "easy" way to "force" the transposition of information between applications and the information maintains on the part that is meant to be, in this case of the "end" process application - the Autocad (2D) application (because of the client's template style).

Hi! I am sorry to hear that. Inventor is not worth pulling your hair. It is just a tool and it may have bugs. Do you mind sharing an Inventor drawing file you are using? There should be a way to get what you want. But, it is better to have an example to work with.

Hi, I'd like to know if you're going to optimize AutoCAD with multicore processors to use all available resources because AutoCAD is a poor performer when it comes to using the computing power provided by modern processors (example: Double Intel Xeon Quad core = 16 logical processors) while most cheaper pro software do better.

AutoCAD supports multi-core technology only in specific areas of the product and typically set to only using 2 of the processors. It uses 100% of the resources of a single-core processor and uses a maximum of 50% of the CPU for that same operation on a dual-core computer, and only 6% of each CPU on a 16-core computer.

With that said if you use the command WHIPTHREAD which by default set to 1 which is 'Regeneration multithreaded processing only; regeneration processing is distributed across two processors on a multiprocessor machine' selection. You can change the setting to 2 or 3 if you want.
