This programme aims to
strengthen scientific cooperation between France
and Ukraine by providing Ukrainian researchers with the
opportunity to conduct research within leading French
engineering schools for a period ranging from a few
weeks to several months in 2025. By fostering joint
research initiatives and collaboration between scientific
communities, this initiative supports the continued
integration of Ukrainian researchers into the European
research landscape. The programme started in 2023. Last
year, NADIYA accompanied the research work of 11
researchers accross France. Further details on the

We are proud to announce that Ecole Polytechnique (Paris) joined NADIYA programme for this new 2025 edition !
Presentation of the research programme
Recipients of the
fellowship will receive a monthly stipend of €1,704 for
early-career researchers and €2,055 for experienced
researchers. The duration of the mobility period can vary
from 1 to 6 months before 31/12/2025 with a start date
determined based on both the researcher’s availability and
the hosting institution’s schedule. While the French
Embassy will cover round-trip travel expenses from the
researcher’s home city to the host city, housing support
is available through Campus France at reasonable rates
(housing costs remain the responsibility of the
researcher). In addition, the CDEFI will assist in
orienting candidates with an appropriate host laboratory,
ensuring a smooth and relevant placement process within
french research teams. The list of engineering schools
which are members of CDEFI network and therefore eligible
for mobility is attached.
Note: The categorisation as “early-career” or “experienced researcher” is based on whether the applicant obtained their PhD less or more than 5 years prior to their arrival in France.
Research themes eligible for 2025
The research themes for
this edition cover a wide spectrum of engineering
disciplines as follow :
- Materials science ; engineering: Focusing on the study of material properties, surface innovations, nanotechnology, and advanced composites;
- Biotechnology ; life sciences: Covering applications in healthcare, agrifood, bioengineering, and bioprocesses;
- Geosciences ; environmental engineering: Addressing issues in soil management, mineral resource utilisation, advanced depollution, and ecological remediation techniques, critical raw materials);
- Sustainable energy ; energy transition: concentrating on renewable energies, energy storage solutions, and efficiency optimisation in link with the issues faced by the energy sector in Ukraine;
- Agronomy ; bioagronomy, veterinary sciences: exploring innovations in sustainable agriculture, agro-resource management, animal health, and the environmental impact on agricultural ecosystems (bioagronomy);
- Innovative technologies ; prospective civil engineering: with a strong focus on aeronautics and emerging engineering fields.
Scientific excellence and the relevance of the proposed research project will be the key criteria in the evaluation process performed by french Engineering schools. A special attention will be given to:
i) The impact and application of research outcomes for the benefit of Ukraine.
ii) The dissemination of results within the Ukrainian scientific community to foster knowledge sharing.
iii)
The
long-term sustainability of the research collaboration, ensuring a
structured and lasting partnership between the Ukrainian
and French institutions involved.
iv) Strict observation of the martial law.
Eligibility criteria for
application
To be eligible to a fellowship, applicantes must:
- Hold Ukrainian nationality,
- Currently residing in Ukraine (applicants already in France are not eligible), and
- Be either a doctoral student (currently pursuing a PhD or enrolled in a doctoral program commencing in the 2024-2025 academic year), a postdoctoral researcher, or an experienced researcher affiliated with a Ukrainian higher education or research institution.

- Location: France, within a laboratory or research team affiliated with an engineering school
- Application Deadline: April 20, 2025
- Duration: 2 weeks up to 6 months
