(Sorry for the off-topic email. Trust me one of the datasets I use for my research is Grantha! See here: http://sachi.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk/research/digital-humanities/digital-paleography/)

As some of you might have known, I'm currently in the final stages of my PhD. It is focused on developing an innovative digital paleographic system. I'm currently running an evaluation study of the system I developed to wrap up my research. I'd be grateful if you could volunteer to perform the evaluation. The only requirement is that you have experience handling manuscripts/epigraphs.

The framework allows you to analyse characters using handwriting information present and derive script-independent metrics. We’ll be evaluating the usability of the framework, the metrics and also some results derived using the framework.

You will be asked to evaluate a Script Analysis Framework via a remote desktop software. This would consist of performing a set of tasks using the framework. Then you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire to evaluate this framework. This would be followed by another set of questionnaire to evaluate metrics used in the framework and also results obtained using the framework.

Following, there would be a short free-form interview to have a summary discussion.

The information you provide will be held confidentially by researcher and supervisor involved in this project. Before agreeing to participate in this research you will be given a Participant Information Sheet that will further detail my research before consenting to participate.

As explained above the evaluation consists of three parts:

(i) Evaluating the framework

(ii) Evaluation the metrics

(iii) Evaluating the results

Part (i) requires having a Skype call with me and accessing my desktop via TeamViewer (a remote desktop software) to evaluate the software. We would need to schedule a session whenever you're available. (I know this is Christmas time, we can schedule it in January or if required even February)

Part (ii) and part (iii) can be done at your own pace.

Ideally, all the three parts should be done in the same session. The whole exercise would take around 2 to 3 hours. (If you can pre-complete (ii) and (iii) before hand, it wouldn't take more than an hour)

But if you are too busy, I'd appreciate even if you can at least complete part (ii) and part (iii) of the survey. I can generate and send a survey link to you.

Please do let me know if you'd be interested in participating in the evaluation study. I'd be very grateful if you could provide your feedback regarding the system. It'd be extremely helpful for my research and consequently my PhD thesis.

With Regards,
