New version of Sampradaya, a Unicode Grantha typeface

I wanted to share with you news about Sampradaya, the Unicode Grantha typeface I've been working on. With the help of a lot of people (including some members of this list), I managed to get it working well on Windows and MacOS. Version 0.4.2 supports:
  • Windows 10 (Windows 8 and lower have rendering bugs).
  • MacOS 11 (10.12 and newer work OK, but have some rendering bugs. Older than that is unknown).
  • Triple-level stacked conjuncts.
  • Some basic Vedic accents (U+0951, U+0952 and U+1CF4).
  • Contextual glyphs for i/I vowel markers and post-consonant rakara forms.
Here is a sample rendering of some test text:

Thanks for the  effort

 

I installed the font, opened a notepad, changed the font to this and typed but no Grantha letters.

 

What should be done?

Hi Vijay,

I'm not sure what input mechanism you use, so I've attached a text file of the Vishnu Sahasaranama Stotram. And below is a 12-second recording of my installing Sampradaya on Windows 10 and then opening that file on Notepad.


If you're having trouble rendering the attached file correctly, let me know. If this file renders correctly but you can't seem to type Grantha, that would probably have to do with your input mechanism.

The latest release of Sampradaya, the Grantha typeface, now supports Rgveda and Samaveda accent marks! Here's a short list of changes in this v0.5.0 release:

  • Use anchors everywhere possible.
    • Eliminate separate 3rd stack glyphs.
  • Simplify reordering without using extra glyphs.
  • Samavedic and Rgvedic accent support.
  • A ton of misc. bugfixes.

Below is some sample rendering from the Rgveda and Samaveda (the text samples are from Sri. Shriramana Sharma's Vedic accents proposal).
