First of all, we would like to thank everyone who signed up for the
news letter and for your patience as we work just a few bugs in
learning a new system.

The much anticipated D-Star class is now official. The class will be
held Wednsday Febuary 22 at 6pm. We will have the class in the
basement of the Marion Public Library in meeting room B. The class
will simple and allow everyone to better understand D-Star and how it
benefits you, the club, and the future of amateur radio. We will cover
basic terminology and operations as well as an introduction to
programming the radios. We will introduce you to a few applications
that extend the use of the radios even further and cover basic
repeater use in the D-Star world. The class will run untill 8pm with
the last portion of the class planned to be hands on with some of the
radios. If you plan to come please email Bryan (KB9YEN) at
br...@kb9yen.com so we can get an accurate count of how many to expect
and havethe room set up accordingly.


The 2012 Central Indiana Severe Weather Symposium is scheduled for
Saturday, March 10th, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at Valle Vista
Conference Center in Greenwood Indiana. For those who have not
attended one before, the CISWS is a biennial all-day weather
information session for spotters and weather enthusiasts, providing
interesting and informative speakers on various severe weather related
topics. If you are a skywarn spotter or interested in becoming one,
you are highly encouraged to attend. The symposims are always full of
great informations and interesting speakers. You do need to register
in advance, no later than March 8th and registration is $35.00 or
$25.00 for students with a valid student ID. More information and the

We do hope everyone who can will join up each Sunday at 9pm EST for
the weekly Grant County Amateur Radio Net and Swap. This gives
everyone a chance to bring up things tht happen between meetigns and
just stay in contact with one another. The net is held on the
146.790(-)[pl 131.8] repeater.

The next Indiana D-Star Net will be Thursday January 2nd at 7:30pm and
the W9EBN D-Star repeater will be linked for the net. If you have a D-
Star radio or a DVDongle, the net is held on REF024B and we would love
to have you join us. This net is held on the first and third Thursday
of each month.
