So i wanted to have all the same setting and preferences which stored in my prefs folder on one computer to be transered to another. The way of simply packaging entire prefs folder and loading it up to google disk, as far as i understand, is not solution at all, because when i downloaded that rar file which contains prefs, it doesn't have that folder in it. So it stores all prefs data locally on one machine right? How can i correctly move that folder so my other pc could see that prefs folder?
By saying that i mean that downloaded prefs folder contains prefs with todays date, but i created this yesterday and my predictions is maya on other pc just converted that entire folder to default one. And on my goodle disk that folder have other settings (other date an so on).
I simply download that prefs folder from my google disk i saved yesterday and when i unfold on other computer it should contain prefs config ( scripts, shelves and so on), instead, that prefs folder show todays date of creation. As i said before my predictions are maya determains prefs folder localy. Because i don't understand why it does so.
Of course i did! That the first thing i have done because don't expect that this will happen. The strangest thing is when i delete prefs folder of maya in this pc, on google drive prefs folder also delete itself, so somehowe it's connected.
3. Every time you close Maya the prefs folder will be saved again, so the timestamp for this folder always shows the latest date when you used Maya, so it's totally normal to see a different date on that folder compared to when you created the copy.
I had encountered the same problem when updating Zbrush this week. I already had a existing userSetup.mel file, so I added the below line from the Pixologic userSetup.mel file found in the goZ folder referenced above. My userSetup.mel file is located at C:\Users\\Documents\maya\2020\scripts so I cant speak to the various other places that userSetup file may show up!
Just try to delete the GoZ shelf in Maya and restart Maya.
Another cause: you may have ZBrush set to run as an administrator OR Maya running as an administrator. Both need to be on the same security level (Not running as an administrator is advised).
I was able to fix it. However, Nothing else I have tried has been able to fix this issue. I have tried running both maya and zbrush with admin flag on/off, deleting my shelf in maya ect. Nothing works until I do the follwing steps.
