VEHICLE LARCENIES ON THE EAST SIDE & RECOVERED CHILD'S BIKE

On Sunday Feb 10 at about 7 PM a neighbor observed a young black male pulling door handles of vehicles on his street. The thief took of and jumped into a two door Honda hatch back. Description is a young black male about 140 pounds. He almost wrecked the car while leaving the area.

The larcenies ocurred on Killian, Cameron and Rosalia.

There were at least 3 cars entered and 2 of these had items taken. All the victims believe that the cars were locked which indicates the thief might have a slim jim or other device. One of the vehicles had the stereo ripped out of the dash.

Zone 6 officers arrived quickly but a Grant Park Security Patrol officer was not here until 8PM.

Please call 911 if you see any suspicious persons, recent patterns indicate the thieves are driving around the area in cars, jumping out on a street, and then pulling door handles or somehow getting in to cars.

WHILE ON PATROL WITH GPSP THIS AFTERNOON LT IOSTY DETAINED A SUSPECT WHO WAS IDENTIFIED AS CARRYING A CHILD'S BIKE AT GRANT AND MILLEDGE.

Beat officers responded but were unable to locate this man but Lt Iosty located him behind a house near Georgia Ave and Connally St. The man was uncooperative and resisted so he'll be spending the night in jail.

BIKE RECOVERED IS A CHILD'S BIKE WITH TRAINING WHEELS, NOVARA MODEL, LIGHT COLOR. THE SUSPECT SAID HE FOUND IT ON CHEROKEE AVE BUT COULD NOT POINT OUT A SPECIFIC LOCATION.

If it belongs to you, please call 911 to file a theft report and the officer should be able to assist you in the steps necessary to retrieve the bike from property office.
