GPSP/GPNW CRIME UPDATE for Wednesday's Crime Alert

CRIME UPDATE

From our GPSP officers and some additional details in the East Atlanta Patch: there were two incidents on Wednesday night. One was a robbery of a man who was walking the perimeter of the park on Cherokee at Milledge. This started the crimes. Three young black males robbed him at gunpoint and they took off running through the park. The second incident was the carjacking at Boulevard and Rosalia. A man was working on his car at that location and he was approached by two black males. He was ordered out of his car and surrendered his wallet . The second suspect also jumped in the car.

There are witnesses to both incidents so we hope these criminals are quickly identified and arrested. Our GPSP officers will be patrolling this weekend and Zone 6 will have an extra presence here. There will be checkpoints around the neighborhood and there will also be some undercover details.

We've spoken with Major Meadows who is the zone 6 commander and he has promised these resources for Grant Park until we can get back to our regular routines.

In the meantime, please be alert and call 911 if you see something that does not look or feel right. These criminals will sometimes cruise an area on foot looking for a car to steal. Sometimes they'll already have a stolen car.
