As reported by WSB Atlanta, yesterday afternoon there was a carjacking at the Northside branch of the LIBRARY! An Acura was stolen, and possibly a second vehicle. Four young black males are the suspects.
According to the news report, a Volvo was left at the scene and it was the car taken in a carjacking at 97 Estoria in Cabbagetown. The Estoria incident was last week in the early morning hours.
We are in contact with our patrol officers who will relay further details.
GPSP EXTRA PATROLS
For the next few months we've extended the patrols for the evenings, adding 2 additional patrols most likely Friday and Saturday in addition to Sunday. Two of these patrols will be from 6 until 10 and one from 10 until 2 AM (for more info or to join: http://grantpark.org/security-patrol).
Please be alert at all times and call 911 if you observe cars cruising in the neighborhood.
ROBBERIES: There have been some in the SE area of the city, and one occured at 11 PM on Christmas Eve here in Grant Park. Two people were robbed at Orleans and Cherokee as they were headed to the church service. No other details on suspects there.
AUTO THEFT: DO NOT LEAVE A RUNNING UNATTENDED MOTOR VEHICLE!! There was one drive off at the RedBox kiosk at the CVS and a second at the BP across from the fire station. There was a Dodge stolen at Barnetts parking lot on Woodward Sunday at 4PM.
BURGLARIES: There have been a few night time burglaries in the past 3 weeks. Two were north of I-20 at homes where the residents work in the evenings. One was at a residence in the 700 block of Grant. Also one at 400 block of Oakland at Sydney, a window was broke and alarm was tripped so only a laptop was taken.
VEHICLE LARCENIES: This continues to be a crime of opportunity. There are some scattered around the restaurants and also at Oakland cemetery.
